{"id":102,"date":"2019-12-07T14:31:28","date_gmt":"2019-12-07T05:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.ubin.jp\/en\/?page_id=102"},"modified":"2019-12-25T13:55:45","modified_gmt":"2019-12-25T04:55:45","slug":"aggregate-computing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.ubin.jp\/en\/research-development\/aggregate-computing\/","title":{"rendered":"Aggregate computing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&#8220;Aggregate Computing&#8221; proposed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tron.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"TRON Project (opens in a new tab)\">TRON Project<\/a> is the concept that various devices, services and systems are connected to a network to achieve optimal performance, in a collaborative manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us take an example of the\noptimum control of air conditioning in our living environment. Aggregate\ncomputing uses not only air conditioners, but also other objects such as\nwindows, air vents, gas stoves, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, and any\nother devices that may be related to the control of the air in our living space\nto achieve the desired optimum control of&nbsp;\nthe environment beyond the confines of the original manufacturers of\nindividual devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we aim to achieve such\ncomputing environment, we also have to pay due attention to the governance of\nthe usage of functions. Users should have the final say about who can control\nwhat and when instead of the vendors of the devices or service providers. In\naddition, flexible access control is required so that the governance policies\ncan be dynamically adapted according to the current context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the embedding of complex and comprehensive access control in each node may end up negating the general efforts to achieve the miniaturization and energy-efficiency of such devices. Yet, we can still achieve the miniaturization, low-cost, and energy-saving by moving the complex advanced functions such as access control, which is auxiliary to the original inherent function of the device, to the cloud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus &#8220;Aggregate Computing&#8221; tries to offer a holistically optimized IoT service by mixing various devices and services as a whole.
